Also, check for loose or damaged shingles and have them repaired or replaced immediately to inhibit moisture infiltration. If you notice moss, algae or mildew, you can use a power washer to remove them, but set it at a pressure from 1,500 to 3,500 pounds per square inch. Check your siding for moss as well and don’t hesitate to ask an expert if siding replacement would be necessary.

Don’t forget to clean your gutters. Accumulated debris can result in clogged gutters, which could overflow with rainwater or melted snow. This allows water to seep under the shingles and cause damage.

2. Preventive Maintenance
